Book Review: Burial Rites by Hannah Kent
This is a wonderful novelisation of a true story set in Iceland in the early 1800s. The story is compelling and completely convincing and the thoughts of the main character - the accused murderess - beguiling and thought provoking. There is something bleak about the apparent inevitability of the final outcome, although one keeps hoping that things may just turn out differently. You'll have to read it to find out if they do.
