Book Review: We Band of Brothers by George W Warwick

This is an autobiographical account of a young man who enlisted

into the South African Infantry to fight in the First World War. Like many books of this sort, that I have read, it is rather dry in its tone, although, unlike most, it is scattered through with amusing anecdotes that point to the naivety of some of the youngsters that joined up and the innocence of the times onto which the war exploded. It is an easy read, but I suggest, unless you are really interested in the First World War or social history, it probably is not for you. Having said that the book is an important historical record of life during the war and well done to George W Warwick for taking the time to put pen to paper. It is a very laudable achievement, which I think deserves 4 stars.
